The Beautiful and Sustainable Senior Home in a Beautiful Israel
Even in old age, people need a beautiful and well-maintained environment. That is why the Council for a Beautiful Israel promotes awareness of aesthetics and environmental care in senior living facilities through the unique and important competition: “The Beautiful and Sustainable Senior Home in a Beautiful Israel.”
Its goal is to create pleasant, friendly surroundings for residents, visitors, and staff.
This competition is one-of-a-kind in Israel and incorporates topics related to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance), with a focus on environmental responsibility and social justice.

Held annually since 2004, the competition is now celebrating its 22nd year. It is conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, KEDMA – the Association for the Advancement of Senior Living Communities in Israel, JDC-ESHEL – the Association for the Planning and Development of Services for the Elderly in Israel, and the Israeli Gerontological Society.
The competition is national in scope and open to all types of senior housing: nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior day centers, and social/retiree clubs. Participating institutions are evaluated based on criteria such as building appearance, quality of life and environment, and community contribution.
